PATHWAYS CLICKING CLUB
The Pathways World School Clicking Club, (a pool of passionate photographers) was started in 2008 as a creative activity. The prime
objective of this activity was to have fun with the widely Available digital camera. Since then we have become more aware of “Photography” and every day we come across something amazing about photography. Each year the students’ enrolment in this club has increased exponentially and the budding photographers of Pathways World School, Aravali have proven their talent and passion for Photography!
Abstract Photography can produce very dramatic images. It relies on our primal sense of form, colour, imagination and perspective for details. There is no standard, universally accepted definition of Abstract Photography. It is a sincere attempt by the Clicking Club to move away from regular photogenic images and produce some interesting images. As Pathways completes 16 glorious years of excellence in education, Clicking Club, in existence for the past 11 years, is extremely happy to bring out the 8th Edition of the Clicking Club Calendar.

Photography has long struggled to get recognition as a Fine Art. For many, it has seemed to be merely a medium of presentation, not expression. The medium and the work have been clear, but the role of photographer as an artist has not. Many people have assumed that the photographer is simply a technician who “operated the medium”. Can a photograph be construed as an Artwork? Ansel Adams, for instance, was constantly accused of being a mere replicator of natural scenery, a realistic copier. As onlookers, we could be thrilled by Adams’ landscapes, but many were sceptical that Adams had any more to do with these images, than getting the camera to the right place at the right time. Only by looking carefully at what Adams did will we truly understand where the artist and technician part company. Adams was a perfectionist in technical matters, but he was also a very sophisticated artist. Images that seem to be a mere replica of reality were usually manipulated substantially in both camera work and darkroom processing.
The presentation of the artist and writers have contributed significantly into changing perceptions of photography into Fine Art. Prominent personalities, such as Pablo Picasso said “I have discovered photography. Now I can kill myself. I have nothing else to learn”, and Francis Bacon said “I have always been very interested in photography. I have looked at far more
photographs than I have paintings. Because their reality is stronger than reality itself”.
At Pathways World School, Aravali, Photography is one of the most sought- after creative activities. The students, irrespective of their age, are encouraged to see the world around them through their camera. The overwhelming responses for Photography Exhibitions, Silent Bidding, Live Editing and the Clicking Club Calendar from parents and visitors has always motivated our young photographers to work towards excellence. We take this opportunity to express our heartfelt thanks for motivating and encouraging the Pathways World School Clicking Club.
Clicking Club The great photographer, Alfred Stieglitz, once said, “Photography is not an art. Neither is painting, nor sculpture, literature or music. They are only different media for the individual to express his aesthetic feelings… You do not have to be a painter or a sculptor to be an artist. You may be a shoemaker. You may be creative as such. And, if so, you are a greater artist than the majority of the painters whose work is shown in the art galleries of today." The Clicking Club at Pathways World School - Aravali teaches us different techniques to better ourselves in this skill. This year our teachers have taught us many different styles of taking a photograph. We have studied portrait photography, nature photography, aerial pictures and trick photography. We have even traveled to the farm and mountain areas surrounding our school to explore these skills on a wider range of subjects. After many weeks of exhausting picture taking we learned how to turn a simple picture into an amazing work of art by using simple tool on Photoshop.
